I have been discussing this all over the online Pagan Community lately and am sick of people tell me I'm wrong when there is no way to know for sure.
First my beliefs: I am an Eclectic Wiccan who believes that there is an entity that is nameless and genderless which I call The All. However since most humans, me included, find it hard to identify with a genderless being, I tend to use The Goddess and The God. These are just two aspects of the All. To me, the individual deities (like Kali, Cerridwen, Pan, Hermes, etc...) are just further aspects of the all. They each have qualities that represent those qualities in the all. So no, I don't believe Kali is a separate entity although I accept that many other believe she is, same with the other deities. I don't push my beliefs on anyone or tell anyone they are wrong since there is no way to show I'm right. I don't claim to be right, it's just what I believe.
Now people keep making fun of me, saying there is no The Goddess or The God and that I'm naive or fluffy for thinking so. Last I checked no deities have done public talks that explain what if any deity system there is so therefore, no one can tell another that their beliefs are wrong or claim that theirs are right.
So please stop pretending to be a deity know-it-all when there is no such thing. Different people believe different things, get over it.

Good post.
To me, it comes down to this: If it works for you, use it.
One thing I've noticed is that there are about as many paths are their are pagans. Everyone I meet is an eclectic Witch or Wiccan with Druidic or Norse or Shamanic or some other influences. Some are drawn to Inana, others Sophia.
But guess what? They all have power. Because they are all archetypes of qualities we possess deep within ourselves. And ultimately, we are of "The All" and therefore the God forms we call on are too.
There's nothing naive or fluffy about that.
You stick by your guns my girl. Be true to yourself. Take no notice of anyone, the truth come from within your own self. Try this one...
when people ask me what 'path' I'm on or follow...I say 'MY OWN', and which Goddess or God? I AM a Goddess, Domestic Goddess, Glitter Goddess, Healing Goddess, We are our own Goddesses. Somehow, they can't argue with that :o)
Tell people you are a unique individual and you are going to stay that way.
Love and Bright Blessings,
Sue x
